Santa Tecla - Chalchuapa 119-62 Cojute - Aguila 87-85 Cojute held off Aguila to secure 1-0 lead. Cojute looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American swingman Andravious Smith (196-95, college: Tougaloo) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and his fellow American import Shahmel Brackett (183-91, college: UNCP) chipped in 19 points and 9 assists. At the losing side Cuban Oreste Torres (204-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 17 rebounds and Lee Vasquez (177-91) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Santa Ana dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Fantasmas' 56. They outrebounded Fantasmas 53-39 including 20 on the offensive glass. Santa Ana players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Fantasmas' players. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. American forward Ron Lawton (196-95, college: NMHU) nailed a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 9 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import Eddie Ishman (196-86, college: Miles) accounted for 20 points, 17 rebounds and 11 assists.
